How do I make changes to a registry locked domain?

Note: This article covers Melbourne IT DPS customers only.

If any changes need to be made to a domain under a registry lock, including changing DNS records, changing ownership or updating contact details, the following must occur;

  1. Arrange for registry lock to be temporarily disabled
  2. Changes are made
  3. Arrange for registry lock to be reinstated

Temporarily Disable Registry Lock
Please email [email protected] with the following;

  • Your domain name
  • Your registry lock security passphrase
  • The changes that you want to make to your domain
    Our internal registry lock expert will then call you to once more verify your security passphrase and confirm that the domain should be unlocked. They will then contact the registry, undergo a validation process and arrange for your domain lock to be temporarily removed.

Changes Are Made to Domain
We will administer your domain, as requested.

Reinstate the Registry Lock
Our registry lock expert will once more contact the registry, undergo a validation process and arrange for your domain lock to be reapplied. Once complete, we will contact you to let you know that your domain changes have been made and your domain is safely locked once more.

Please note that it may take up to 48 hours each time that the registry lock has to be removed or reinstated as there is a very thorough internal verification process to ensure the highest levels of security on your domain.
