What are CCTLD domain names?

Country coded top-level domains (ccTLD) are generally used by or reserved for a country. These domain spaces are either restrictive or non-restrictive, depending on the governing policies of each extension. In particular, the .au domainspace is heavily regulated and has many policies enforced where registrants must comply with to be eligible.

In other circumstances, ccTLD domain names are used for other purposes. For example the .tv domain space represents the country Tuvalu and is non-restrictive. Typically the .tv domain space is registered by registrants from the media industry.
