What does the domain transfer status mean?

Note: This article covers Melbourne IT DPS customers only.

Domain transfer statuses can sometimes be confusing and obscure, for that reason we've created this list explaining some of the more common statuses that can occur. You can find the status of your transfer in your Admin Panel under Orders > Pending Domain Transfers. For hosting orders you can find the statuses here and new registration statuses can be found here.

.au domains

waiting registrant response - An email has been sent to the registrant email address to confirm the transfer but the link has not been clicked yet, this may be due to an invalid email address so please check this here. If the email is invalid please get it updated with the current registrar before contacting support as we will have to close the transfer and get you to resubmit it.

request transfer notification sent - The transfer is in progress and we have notified the registry office to move the domain, this usually takes 48 hours, no further steps need to be taken during this period.

resolve domain failed - The connection has timed out to the registry office after the transfer should have completed and the completion check needs to be re-tried, please contact us for this status.

request transfer failed - The connection has timed out to the registry office before the transfer started and the transfer check needs to be re-tried, please contact us for this status.

Order is missing - The transfer has most likely been rejected by the registry office and we will need to check with them, please do a whois to make sure the domain is in the 'ok' status, if your domain is not in the 'ok' status please contact your current registrar, otherwise please call us.

Other domain extensions

confirmation requested - An email has been sent to the admin email address to confirm the transfer but the link has not been clicked yet, this may be due to an invalid email address so please check the whois before contacting us.

transfer requested - The transfer is in progress and we have notified the registry office to move the domain, this usually takes 5-7 days, no further steps need to be taken during this period.

request transfer failed - The transfer has failed, this is most likely due to the domain status, please check the whois or contact support for more information.

domain resolution failed - The connection has timed out to the registry office after the transfer should have completed and the completion check needs to be re-tried, please contact us for this status.

complete transfer failed - The transfer has completed but an error has occurred, usually a typo in the contact details, please contact us for this status.

awaiting operator action - The transfer order has submitted but is waiting to start processing, if this is an urgent transfer please contact us.

Order is missing - The transfer has most likely been rejected by the registry office and we will need to check with them, please do a whois to make sure the domain is in the 'ok' status and that the contact details are not hidden by Domain Privacy, if the domain is not in the 'ok' status or Domain Privacy is on then please contact your current registrar, otherwise please contact us.
