Enabling phpMyAdmin for MySQL

The GUI-based program phpMyAdmin helps you create MySQL databases without needing to know SQL syntax.
Note: You must enable MySQL before using phpMyAdmin.
To Enable phpMyAdmin for MySQL:
- Click phpMyAdmin, or select Databases-phpMyAdmin. The phpMyAdmin window appears.
- Click Enable phpMyAdmin. The window refreshes with a confirmation message.
Note: Because you have enabled phpMyAdmin and MySQL, you should password protect the appropriate directory used to store data manipulated using this feature.
To Access phpMyAdmin:
- Click phpMyAdmin, or select Databases-phpMyAdmin. The phpMyAdmin window appears.
- Click Administer MySQL with phpMyAdmin. The Welcome window appears, with Username and Password login fields.
- Type the username you want into the Username field (admin), and type your MySQL password in the Password field. The phpMyAdmin application window appears.
To Disable phpMyAdmin:
- Click phpMyAdmin, or select Databases-phpMyAdmin. The phpMyAdmin window appears.
- Click Disable phpMyAdmin. The window refreshes with a confirmation message.
