Your log in information is highly sensitive and it is of vital important that we ensure privacy and security for all Melbourne IT customers. As a result, several kinds passwords are required to maintain the intergity of your account and domain name. The following links detail the types of passwords that may be required when accessing any Melbourne IT service.

Your Master Account contains all your contact, billing, invoicing, and domain information. One or more domains may be listed in an account. Your master Account level details should not be provided to any unauthorised users in your office or home.

These log in details give you access to Domain management, specific to a single domain. It gives you access to all DNS, Zone records, email accounts and FTP details. Domain level passwords may generally be provided to anyone working on a specific domain (e.g. a web designer or editor). Billing, contact and invoicing information isn't accessible from the Domain level log in.

Your Email password specific to a single email account. These password are generally used to access the email account via an email client (Outlook, Mac Mail, etc), mobile phone (iPhone, Blackberry, etc), or webmail service.

Your FTP password provides direct access to a hosted domain server. It allows for the transfer of web pages, graphics, and files via FTP to the web hosting server, which are generally made available for viewing over the internet.

Your domain password is different to your domain level log in information. This passowrd allows for the transfer of a domain name between registrars or to change ownership of a domain name. The domain password is sometimes known as an Auth code, Authinfo code, EPP code/password or domain transfer password.

Unless you have a specific requirement to do so, all passwords should only be made available to those entrusted to make modifications to your domain, and should always be changed after any official work has been completed.
