Windows 2008 to 2012 Migration

Windows 2008 to 2012 Migration
You may have recently received an email from us notifying you that we will be migrating your hosting account from one of our older Windows Hosting platforms onto our Windows 2012 server.

This article will provide you with an overview of this process and aims to answer any questions that you may have.

QuestionAnswer
How do I manage my website? The way you manage your website will not change. You will still access your website files via an FTP client, such as FileZilla. In addition, after the migration is completed you will have access to manage your IIS server if desired. You can download IIS Manager from Microsoft.com. IIS Manager (Microsoft Internet Information Service Manager for Remote Administration) provides end users and administrators with the ability to securely manage remote IIS 7 servers from Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. For support in using the IIS Manager application, please see Remote Administration for IIS Manager Help on Microsoft.com.
Will my username or password change? No. Your user credentials for The Console will not change.
Will my FTP details change?Yes. You will be able to recover the new details by logging into your account and clicking on the "Windows Hosting" tab. Please also check out our support article - https://support.melbourneit.com.au/articles/help/How-do-I-upload-and-download-files-via-FTP/?

Will my current DNS/name server details change? There are no changes to name server details. If we manage your DNS, we will make the necessary DNS changes to prevent minimal disruption to your services. If you manage your own DNS, you will be required to make DNS updates to prevent any service disruption. The DNS information will be included in your pre-migration communications.
Will my staging URL change?Yes. This will be available under the "Windows Hosting" tab in The Console.
Is there an equivalent application/software of IIS Manager for Mac/IOS users? No. IIS Manager is only available on Windows.
