Whois Contact Data Reminder Emails

One of our responsibilities as a domain registrar is to adhere to the Whois Data Reminder Policy (WDRP). This means that once a year, all Melbourne IT customers will receive a reminder from us advising them to ensure that their domains Whois contact details are up to date and accurate.

What is Whois?

According to the Whois Data Reminder Policy (WDRP) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), an annual reminder notice must be sent to the registrant of every generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) domain name (these include: .com, .net and .biz domains). This notice advises domain name owners to check that their registrant contact details are correct.

Domain name registrants are required to review their Whois Data and update their details as required. If the whois contact details displayed in the email notice you receive are still valid, no action is required. However, if your contact details have changed, you will need to log in to your account and update your domains whois contact details.

If you have any concerns about the privacy of your Whois contact information, we do offer a domain privacy service which masks your accurate contact information from being displayed to the public. Even if you are using this domain privacy service, we still require you to check that your details are up to date and accurate in our system.
